This topic will allow your child to explore the sensory world of plants and the environment. It will give them the opportunity to develop their knowledge of the five senses, learn how plants grow and how they can use them in everyday life. Within this topic we will be:
Growing a variety of different plants and learning how to look after them.
Learning how to write clear instructions for planting seeds.
Learning about how plants grow and the life cycle of a plant.
Exploring reference books to learn about different types of plants, how they can be used and their characteristics.
Investigating the conditions plants need to grow.
We will be exploring and testing our senses.
Making observational drawings of different plants.
Reading stories with a plant theme, such as Jack and the Beanstalk, using adjectives to describe different characters, sequencing the story and writing our own versions of the story.
