Stories and Rhymes

This project will immerse your child in developing a love for stories and rhymes and will give them an opportunity to play with words and learn new vocabulary. Some of the things your child will be doing include
- Enjoying listening to traditional stories such as Jack and the Beanstalk, Hansel and Gretel and The Elves and the shoemaker.
- Becoming a storyteller-retelling stories by sequencing pictures.
- Sharing their opinions and thoughts on events and characters in the stories shared.
- Learning to sing Nursery rhymes from memory, performing actions and accompanying with musical instruments.
- Baking Gingerbread Men.
- Growing a Beanstalk like Jack or flowers like Mary, Mary Quite Contrary.
- Exploring materials to help break Humpty Dumpty's fall.
- Comparing numbers to 10 and composition of numbers through rhymes like 1,2,3,4,5 Once I Caught a Fish alive.
- Using video software to make a simple moving image/film such as Incy Wincy spider climbing up the spout.
- Writing instructions about how to make a cup of tea to help Polly when she puts the kettle on.
- Learning to take care of others when they are unwell like Miss.Polly who had dolly who was sick sick sick.
- Developing an awareness of Stranger Danger and what to do when they are lost through the story of Little Red Riding Hood and rhyme Little Bo Peep.
