Time Keeping | Doors are opened at 08:55 am and locked again at 09:05 am. Any pupil arriving after 9:05 am will need to enter through the main entrance and inform Mrs Williams/Mrs O’Brien of their attendance. If pupils arrive after 9:05 am, they will be issued with a late (L) mark. Any pupil arriving after 9:30 am (after the official close of the registers) will be issued with a ‘U’ code which indicates an unauthorised late mark. Any pupil arriving after 9:05am will be detailed in our ‘Late Book’ which is discussed with the Local Authority Attendance and Wellbeing Service. Punctuality of all pupils will be monitored closely throughout the year. |
Attendance | School attendance is a national priority and as a result, is monitored closely by school staff. If your child is absent from school, we ask that you kindly notify the school by contacting the school office on 01443 473296. |
ClassDojo
| Class Dojo is an amazing platform to communicate with parents/carers, share photographs/videos of the children, pieces of work and experiences and this will be used throughout the year. Please note that ClassDojo will capture ‘snapshots’ of the day, and your child may not necessarily be in every picture uploaded. Additionally, Class Dojo will be a home school liaison tool to allow school and home to communicate daily on your child and their day. Please send messages as a direct message to your class teacher should you need to inform us of any appointments, changes or questions. It is your responsibility to check Dojo regularly and inform us if you require a new access code. |
Uniform | We feel that uniform and appearance play an important part in the high expectations we have of ourselves individually and as a community. We therefore ask that all pupils at Perthcelyn wear school uniforms every day. Our school uniform is as follows:
Please ensure that all items of clothing are clearly labeled with your child’s Name. Additionally, adjustments can be made to uniforms for those pupils who have sensory challenges. Soft joggers, or seamless clothing can be worn instead. Please speak to the class teacher regarding this. |
P.E.
| On our designated P.E. day pupils can wear appropriate P.E. kit to school..
Our P.E day for this year is a Wednesday morning. |
Reading | As a school, we use the Jolly Phonics Programme to begin the reading journey. It supports your child in learning initial letter sounds before moving onto digraphs and eventually ‘tricky words’.. The songs to accompany the letter sounds can be found on Youtube. You can help support your child by playing simple phonic games together at home or even singing along to the jolly jingles and songs in the car. When your child knows their initial letter sounds we will send home sounds buttons cards in a pack for you to practice with your child. Short sessions every night work effectively and we ask you to write a comment in their home/school record book to let us know how they are getting along. As a unit we understand that this may not always be possible due to the nature of school and home needing to be separate for your child. We kindly ask for you to read and share other stories or phonics songs at home with them to help. |

Lunch |
If you have any further questions please speak to the class teacher. |
Milk & Snack time | Pupils will have free milk during the morning session and we ask that pupils send in £1 per week to allow us to run two sessions daily (breakfast & snack). This allows us to develop appropriate eating habits, encourage communication and self care skills. It also encourages pupils to try and taste new foods with a calm and supportive environment. |
Drinks
| Pupils in Dosbarth Pinc are provided with their own cup and squash which is varied weekly, is offered during both breakfast and afternoon snack times. Pupils also have direct access to water throughout the school day. They will also be given a drink with their school dinner at lunch times. |
Library | We have a school lending library and your child will visit this area to choose a book to bring home that you can share together to foster a love for reading. They will be provided with a plastic book bag (first one free of charge) to carry their library book to and from school. Please do not buy rucksacks as many of our books will not fit in them without getting damaged. Our day for visiting the school library will be a Wednesday. |
Toothbrushing
| As a school we are part of the ‘Design to Smile’ programme. You will need to sign a consent to allow your child to brush their teeth in school. Toothbrushes and toothpaste is provided and there are strict protocols in place for hygiene. There will be a parent meeting organised by the Design to Smile team held at school during the day this half term. We will inform you of this date as soon as we know via Class Dojo. |
