Guidance for Parents on Blended Learning

BBC BITESIZE 

BBC Bitesize are now providing daily lessons for homeschooling in Maths and English for every year group from Year 1 to Year 6 and beyond, as well as regular lessons in Science, History, Geography and more.  If your child is finding the work easy just move up a year group, too tricky then go to a lower year group.  There is actual teaching as well as an activity often using videos to demonstrate.  The resources really are excellent.  There's even a weekly maths challenge for those missing their BIG MATHS!

  • Oxford Owl You may need to create an account with Oxford Owl but all resources are then free, including books from our reading scheme that are available as free e - books.
  • Literacy Trust Free book extracts with activities and links to authors, videos and other resources.

  • DUOLINGO Download the FREE Duolingo App to practise Welsh or learn another language.

  • The Maths Factor Carol Vorderman’s excellent maths website. It’s now completely FREE
  • White Rose Maths Completely FREE excellent maths resouces by year group - with answers!
  • Mathletics Great maths resources - you will need to sign in
Health and Wellbeing
Relationship, health and diet support guidance from RCT Educational Psychology Service
  • Cosmic Kids Yoga Yoga, mindfulness and relaxation designed specially for children aged 3+
  • Health for Kids A great website for children's physical and mental wellbeing.
  • Childnet A range of games, books and information about staying safe online. Filters allow you to select the appropriate age.
Science
  • Kids Gardening Fun activities that provide opportunities for families or informal groups to learn together, while encouraging love for nature and the environment.
  • Nature Detectives. Nature based activities that you can do in your home or garden. From the Woodland Trust.
General
  • BBC Bitesize A whole range of activities for primary aged children
  • BrainPOP An ENORMOUS resource of English, Maths, Science and more. Lots of ability levels
  • Kids Activities An enormous range of children's activities and ideas for home learning
  • TopMarks Lots of free resouces across a range of subjects
  • twinkl Loads of resources but you may need to print some
Coding
  • An Hour of Code Brilliant computer coding games for ALL primary age children
Topic Work
  • Steve Backshall Live Steve Backshall from BBC Deadly 60 does a live Question and Answer on Wednesday at 9.30am or watch previous episodes. A must if you love animals!
