This week our story focus was based on The Gurffalo! This was a big hit in our class. The pupils thoroughly enjoyed exploring the story through Attention Autism.

Spring Term 


This term our topic is called 'Scrumptious', this project has a Knowledge and Understanding of the World focus and enables children to explore different types of food, including observing and experiencing the changing state of foods by cooking, melting, mixing and freezing. 


During this term your child will have the opportunity to learn about :

  • different types of food
  • foods they like and dislike
  • the senses of smell and taste
  • keeping healthy by eating a balanced diet
  • measures and money through play based activities
  • foods from different countries
  • the processes of cooking, melting, freezing and mixing
  • expressing themselves creatively using a range of different media

Our class Gallery: we have been busy making lovely Christmas decorations, cards and gifts this week all about Christmas!

ABRACADABRA!! Today we had a visit from a magician Magic Stu, we loved watching him do magic and laughed lots at his funny jokes!

O Christmas Tree, O Christmas Tree, How lovely are thy branches! πŸŽ„πŸŽ„ A big thank you Elphie & her parents, Mel and Mark for fundraising on behalf of the class. We have a new bright and colourful Christmas tree which has taken pride of place in the reading corner. Thank you πŸŽ„

This week we sang the incy wincy spider and created spiders webs to help us remember the song. We also learnt about the angel Gabriel and Mary learning she was going to have a baby; the son of God.

Gallery: This week we made Christmas decorations for our class tree. We also learned about kind hands and what we use them for, we used paint to show our handprints which are now kind hands.

On Friday we enjoyed typing our names on the computer.

On Tuesday we were learning about what floats and sinks. We used water and different items from our class to test them out before sorting them into what floated on the water and what sunk to the bottom.

On Monday we decided as a class to get into the festive Christmas spirit πŸŽ…πŸ» Introducing Christmas through Attention Autism to support understanding, engagement and focus. As you can see it was a big hit! Christmas πŸŽ„πŸŽ„πŸŽ„

Please can all parents check their child’s home school book. Additional information about your child’s Christmas play has been included. πŸŽ„ πŸŽ…πŸ» 

Please can all parents send in one piece of a fruit each day for snack. This is a vital opportunity to develop and encourage communicate and engagement, verbally and through the use of PECS.

Making Rainbows - We have been exploring how water affects light and displays beautiful colours in the form of a rainbow.

Every Friday, Dosbarth 1a will have a PE session in the hall. Please can all pupils come to school in their PE kits for the day.

Attention Autism - Pitter Patter Puddle Play We have had fun exploring the different types of weather systems this week.

Our theme for the Autumn term will be based on the title 'Pitter Patter, Puddle Play'.


This project has a Humanities focus and enables children to explore water in its many different forms. Using their senses in a range of first hand sensory experiences  Opportunities will be provided for children to experience a range of activities that explore  water, and the ways in which we use water in our everyday lives.
